Murphy’s Law and your Gutter

Murphy’s Law states that “If something can go wrong, it will.”

The longer someone waits to fix their gutters, more damage could be incurred thus costing more in the long run.

    1. The flow of water drains onto the side of the house. This would cause discoloration of the siding plus wear and tear. In extreme cases the water could penetrate the siding and cause mold inside the walls.
    2. The flow of water digs into the ground at the side of the house. This could cause erosion of the foundation itself. Very costly as even cracks can erupt and allow water to leak into the basement.
    3. Extreme storms can cause whole parts of a deteriorated gutter to break off. The offending gutter can damage other parts of the house. The gush of water from the roof could cause swimming pool size holes in the back of your yard.

Ok, the last example may sound extreme but it is best to not wait to long to fix or replace your gutters. Hire a local company. They may be able to get your insurance company to pay for it. Get a few estimates.

Don’t skimp because of cost. The best companies use proven products and are bonded and insured. Don’t let Murphy’s Law get the best of your house.
